HTI has 17 laboratories which help for students to get practical experiences in connection of different fields of communication engineering.

Laboratories in Electronic media

Radio broadcasting

Most of exercises are related to convensional analog and digital radio and TV broadcasting technology, but different types of modulation technics are also measured in the laboratory.

Aqoustic technology and studio

One part of the exercises demonstrate aquostic equipments and circuits. With analog and digital devices the students measure different kinds of characteristics of audio transmission and recording.

Video studio

The studio helps for the students to learn practical knowledges of modern video technic. Devices and equipments also used to make professional video recording, digitalising movies, and making postprocessing works.Videofilms for distance learning are also made here.


Laboratory is equipped with IBM and Macintosh computers, and special devices and softwares (scanner, editors, etc.) Students make interactive multimedia programs, but we make special training softwares for distance learing too.

Analog electronics

Slogan of laboratory: "Design and realisation!. Students design simple analog circuits by the aid of computers, and then they realise them physically. They test and measure realised circuits.

Electronic circuits

The aim of laboratory exercises to give basics of practical measurement technologies for students. Here they can learn of handling and using different kinds of measuring devices (oscilloscopes, generators, power supplies, receivers etc.). It is also useful, that students can understand the practical side of theoratical subject "Electronics".

Safety Technics

Nowadays the importance of different kinds of security systems come greater and greater. The exercises in the laboratory help to get up-to-date knowledges about these systems and technologies. Students also measure characteristics of sensors and other elements of security circuits.

Laboratories in Telecommunication technics

Measurement technology of wire communication

Three types of exercises are measured here: Basic parameters (as attenuation, phase and noise/signal characteristics of filters, wires and analog and digital circuits) related to communication systems.
Basics of ISDN transmission (protocolls), digital exchange (time and space switching), automatic measurement systems (GPIB) are also examined. The third group of exercises include simulations of different circuits on computers (analog and digital filters, Fourier and Z transformation).

Measurement technology of wireless communication

The laboratory exercises include measurements of characteristics and parameters of wireless communication such as sensitivity, attenuation, bandwith etc. Different systems of radio and TV technics (PAL, SECAM etc.) are also demostrated.

Digital transmission

This laboratory helps to understand PDH transmission, and the measurement methods related to PDH systems. Primary PCM is measured by WuG PCM5, and Siemens K4400 és K4305 devices. A 34 Mbit/sec optical transmission line is tested by Schlumberger analysator.

Microwave transmission

The exercises include measurements of microwave circuits and devices. Some of them are demonstated by CAD systems.

Laboratories in Telematics

Applied computer technology

Laboratory is equipped with a LAN (server and 12 users) which is connected to Kando faculty site. Students make exercises in DOS, UNIX and LINUX operation systems.

Communication Informatics

Exercices demonstrate protocoll-interfaces of packet and circuit switched public networks (PSTN, ISDN, PLMN, etc). Different kind of measurement methods and devices are used to measure protocolls.

Basics of digital circuits

The aim of laboratory is to give basics of digital circuits, funcional units and component (gates, memories, counters, registers, etc.). Students design different kinds of logical and sequensial circuits, they realise them and make tests.

Digital exchange

With modern devices students measure main parameters of digital exchange technology, PABXs, ISDN etc. Signal flow and processing is also demonstrated.

Digital systems

In this laboratory students get practice in programing and testing of microcontrollers used in the fields of telecommunication.

Electronic components

Exercises help to learn the main parameters and characteristics of components used in the circuits of communication technoligy (switches, transformators, noise filters, optoelectronic devices etc.).
